2023 had its moments but I’m glad to see the back of it.

2024 has got to be better, right?

Happy New Year everyone.  I hope your footy team does well 🙂

Likewise, David, glad to see the @rse end of 2023... not a good year for Mrs Baggers and I, health wise... Much better now.

And, as generously as I possibly can, wish for you and your footy team profound success in 2024 ;D

Happy to see the back of any Collingwood premiership year.

2023 was actually alright for me personally.   Let's hope 2024 can live up to it.

2024 has certainly been a year of challenges. I will be looking forward to 2025.

I have to say, that 2025 also was pretty good for me.

If I were cynical, it looks as though the years hurt people in different ways depending on where they are in life.  I have once again, had a very productive year, filled with some milestones on a professional level, culminating in winning an award at work on Saturday, better health (i've been able to exercise more this year, than in my last 3 combined) and have dropped about 5kg to go back under 100KG for the first time since COVID started (Im 5 foot 11, so this is still quite heavy).  I achieved my first official Microsoft certification (not at the beginner, I went hard and went straight to a intermediate level certification, cos reasons) and have generally had a massive year from a work load perspective and come through it ok.  I have not fished as much as I wanted to, and didnt go on too many holidays, but did go to Brisbane again for our latest final.

Sure, at times it sucked, because life is challenging, but I think Ive learned that the overall year itself can be good with poor points in it (no Carlton flag) but can still largely be positive.

Those who go "worst year ever" are likely to have next year go, hold my beer just when you think it cant get worse, the world finds a way.  So appreciate the good bits, and I genuinely feel for those who have had a bit of a mare so dont think thats cold.

For those who are reading this, I may have triggered you, but one of my dearest friends who I have known since 1996, has recently had his 42 year old wife diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and it has been discovered through chance after having metastasized.  They have a 12 year old, and the prognosis is not great.  So not to denigrate anyones personal challenges, I always consider my fortune in context, and recognise, that irrespective of the challenges I did face this year, I have come through them and out the other side, not necessarily clean and clear, but better for the experience.

Things could and can be worse than even the aforementioned.  next year is going to have some horrific moments, but hopefully it will truly be a Navy Blue Year!

Well said Thry, perspective is everything and when times are tough, it's always sobering to pause and think about the fact that there are always those in a worse predicament than ourselves. I wish your friends wife a full recovery and if that needs a miracle, so be it. 2023 was crappola for our family, my 16 year old nephew was diagnosed with Lymphoma but fortunately, in 2024 he has made a full recovery. His Dad however, my brother 6 years younger than me, had a heart attack last week and had to have a stent put in. He needs another one installed in 6 weeks. The silly boy is very luck as he ignored all the symptoms for months so he is very lucky he went to hospital when he did or we'd not be celebrating Xmas in the right way. Ive had no issues in the regards despite being horribly unfit and way overweight but I am getting some tests done as a precaution and aim to do something about the too many kegs Im carrying. Amongst all that and a crap year with my football team,  I became a grandfather for the first time in September and my wife got her new knee on Sat (coming home tomorrow).
So in 2025? I expect nothing less than Premiership no 17, another Brownlow for Crippa and a Coleman Medal for either of Harry,  Charlie or both. Too much to ask? Go big or go home.
I wish all of you on here a safe, healthy and happy new year.

2021-Pi$$ or get off the pot
2022- Real Deal or more of the same? 0.6%
2023- "Raise the Standard" - M. Voss Another year wasted Bar Set
2024-Back to the drawing boardNo excuses, its time
2025-Carlton cannot win the 2025 AFL Premiership

Its all perspective isnt it. When it comes to the crunch all that matters in our lives is the health and happiness of our loved ones. In the current environment we all get sidetracked but i can tell you from experience once you face the fear of losing a close member before their time you soon change the way you view things and in my case its changed forever.

i want to win a flag but its far from the most important thing to me.
