I get the problems with incarceration.

But the gutless politicians and bureaucrats are sacking police off the back of public and force dissatisfaction, mostly for repeat crimes conducted by people who have been successfully arrested multiples times before. Police arrest and capture them, courts and lawyers let them out, most politicians are lawyers.

In this case it's not the police force or it's members that should get the lemon-sars, the only people applauding the sacking of police are the crooks!

I'm far from being a booster for a police state, but what is happening now is utter madness.

We have to accept that among all groups of society, you are going to get people who have different values.  Those values don't reflect the values of the Carlton football club.  They can support Carlton, and can also participate in a variety of activities the club may not want to be involved in.  That is one facet of being an inclusive club you cannot control.

That being said, what is constituted to be a Nazi bootcamp, is a different question.

https://www.theage.com.au/national/victoria/white-supremacist-bootcamp-takes-over-elwood-beach-20250215-p5lcel.html

Doing these activities of itself doesn't actually qualify it as anything.  Taking a photo with the flag doesn't either.  The party's ideology's may be viewed as Neo Nazi by others, but it is conceivable that not all of them will be members, and not all of them will be of the same thinking re-anti semitism.

Hopefully thats all that is.  We wont know for certain, but lets not pound people into submission.  Often they are attention seeking.

I'm afraid that we do know for certain that these folk are neo-nazis Thry.  ASIO has been consistently warning of the growth of neo-nazi groups for several years now and it's submission to the recent Senate inquiry into right wing extremism provides concrete examples.  The report of that Senate inquiry is also very informative and you can find it at:

https://parlinfo.aph.gov.au/parlInfo/download/committees/reportsen/RB000315/toc_pdf/RightwingextremistmovementsinAustralia.pdf

Then there's the recent stories of two families trying to deal with family members who have embraced the nationalist-socialist ideology:

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2025-02-17/neo-nazi-extremist-intervention-radicalisation-four-corners/104930828?utm_source=sfmc&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=abc_newsmail_am-pm_sfmc&utm_term=&utm_id=2504460&sfmc_id=278657882

There's no doubt that these people are neo-nazis and represent a significant threat to our way of life.
all im saying is dont paint them all with the same brush.  In all groups you'll find extremes.  People who are all the way into new Nazism.  Others who are not on board eith that at all but ideologicallyand politicallyhave found a home with these groups or perhaps were the originators of these groups and found support in those less desirable circles.

Also, I don't believe in labelling them Nazis.  Its deliberately provocative and intention is to ensure that nationalism doesn't become a thing.

Consider it an a Labor party approach to squashing the liberal national party by timing it back to something that occurred in a different place in a different time with the only link being anti semitism.

The current anti Semitic under current is more in support of palestine than anti Semitic and geo political issues need to be considered in the current context.

That's all I'll say about the matter.  I didn't know these people existed until the last fortnight so I can't comment further but simply broad brushing everything is a symptom of the ills of modern society.  Best way to squash something is to misrepresent what it stands for.

What is said regarding the carlton hat rings true.  The carlton football club is not aligned with this no matter if the individuals support carlton.

They call themselves nazis Thry. They use nazi symbols.  They follow nazi ideology.  They revere Mein Kampf.  Our intelligence agency identifies them as neo-nazis.

They are anti-Semitic in the broadest sense of the label; including all of the Semitic peoples, not just Jews.  They are white supremacists.

Nah
It's a dicionary definition.

Quote
Nazi
noun
Na·zi ˈnät-sē  ˈnat-
1: a member of a German fascist party controlling Germany from 1933 to 1945 under Adolf Hitler

2often not capitalized

a: one who espouses the beliefs and policies of the German Nazis : fascist
b: one who is likened to a German Nazi : a harshly domineering, dictatorial, or intolerant person

They're not members of the German National Socialist Party...as much as they'd like to be.
They're "want to be, try hards" who think they're scary, but are in fact ridiculous.

I don't doubt one bit that they have a propensity for serious violence and if there were enough of them, we'd have a problem. Hopefully there are few of them and they will be dealt with by the authorities.

Not when you consider the NZ mosque massacres and many thwarted, attempted and actual assaults and acts of terrorism around Australia.

I suspect the perpetrators of many of those atrocities are drawn to the right wing groups rather than being a fundamental creation of them, the driver is internal not external.  Although it's obvious the groups could well be enablers.

Six of one and half a dozen of the other LP.

The neo-nazi groups provide an opportunity for like-minded folk to coalesce but they also have active recruiting and indoctrination programs.  The article I linked previously gives examples of recruitment and radicalisation of politically naive punters.
