Stalin tried to invade Finland during WW2 and thought like Putin he could roll the small nation easily but got a rude shock when the Finns fought hard and refused to be bullied. The losses were so heavy the Russians were forced to withdraw and end the fighting. You can't let Bullies bluff you because they won't stop, Putin wants NATO off his doorstep and will continue to push if he is allowed to take Ukraine.
Cant let that happen even with threats of nuclear escalation. You let Putin win and China will try their luck with Taiwan and our Pacific neighbors.

Maybe he is a nutter, but if so then those around him know it, and he won't be allowed to sign the death warrants of those around him.

Red Trump might also be a nutter, but he moment he detects his head on the block as a coward he'll try to burn those around him, they'll quickly act to reduce that threat, they are probably already putting things in place under that expectation.

China are going to take Taiwan regardless of this other conflict EB. Sadly like this war one way or another in time that's going to happen.

As much as we all think the world should be fair and don't be bullied by crazy dictators that's a dream and not reality. When these big counties like US, China, Russia, N Korea etc want something which is seen by the fellow superpowers 'as a minor gain' despite all the world and media rhetoric they will get it one way or another.

Its only when they push for something that financially or strategically a major concern do they get group resistance.  The big players on the world stage are all led by leaders that under all their lies are driven by greed and power and as that's the case the awful human side of wars is a distant second to them in pursuit of the real objectives.

There are people including millions of kids still dying of starvation in some parts of the world yet there is only ever token responses to it.

I'm familiar with Estonians, not Ukrainians, but they'd fight with rocks and sharpened sticks before they lived a day under Russian rule.  People thinking they'd just yield to the "inevitable" are sadly mistaken, every metre won (or lost) will paid for in blood.  A lot of it.

Because every single one of them wants to come out of the negotiations without feeling like they've been the ones who had to lower their pants....

ah that's the interesting question and the reason why they start to begin with is the answer.

Seems simple, but to use palestine and israel as an example, what outcome there can be rhetoric right one?

You ask 5 people and you'll get different answers and if they have a vested interest one way or the other the answer will be something that the local population on either side of that equation will disagree with.

Looks like Zelensky has rolled over after the USA pulled the plug on further aid, conceded to Trump and is willing to work under him, he wants to call a ceasefire and in return Trump has said he appreciates Zelensky's comments and said he has been talking to Russia who also want to work towards peace. If I was a Ukranian Id be moving be moving next door to Poland which is about the best place to live in Europe because you are about to be sold out...

I don't reckon it's that simple.  I think Zelensky may have had a crash course in Trump-wrangling from his European buddies over the weekend.

All of Europe has a massive stake in how the Ukraine thing pans out, so there is no way known that the other European leaders would just sit back and see whether or not Trump and Zelensky can play nicely with one another.    They will definitely have a hand on the Ukraine rudder, especially if they intend to send in a peace-keeping force.

We don't all hear or understand Zelensky in his native language to know if he's smart or not, but we hear Trump loud and clear butchering English and that's definitive, no conclusion even needed to write, and it seems his speaker thinks as much!

Canada and Mexico played Red Trump beautifully, they made it clear Red Trump was to blame, one person and one person only leaving him nowhere to hide, and like the draft dodging coward bully he is, he backtracked immediately.

Even if Red Trump wasn't a coward, if he was just purely insane, it turns out most of his Presidential Executive Orders are simply illegal, they aren't even worth the autograph value!

In the USA if congress has previously made a law the President cannot rescind it through an executive order, only congress can change a law congress has made. It seems everybody on the inside knows this unambiguously, so much so many are asking how long do they have to put up with this circus, but the media is playing on the fact the vast bulk of the US public have no idea.

So it seems Red Trump is playing up to the MAGA faithful making a bunch of meaningless declarations that he can't actually implement with congressional support, and he doesn't have it, because most understand the lunacy. Insiders expect at some future date he will quietly revise the rubbish he previously emitted, while continuing to claim that he has made great changes.
