Prof Alan Lichtman is sticking by his prediction that the Democratic contender will win the White House race. However, he conceded, “It’s always possible that something so cataclysmic and so unprecedented could change the pattern of history.”
I think that's called covering your butt
Lichtman claimed that he has “never experienced” this much “hate” since releasing his prediction and I think that reflects how polarising the campaign has been.
It was a bit like Sodom and Gomorrah. Some of the revellers lost the plot and got a bit carried away. Luckily Dr Phil was on standby to cater for any mental health issues.
Was the rally really paying homage to the 1939 German American Bund’s “Pro-American Rally” or did it just seem that way?
Was Aurangzeb’s deviation from his usual blue suit and red tie giving a nod to the Proud Boys?
One thing that does seem true is the mainstream or corporate media’s decision to stop sane-washing what Aurangzeb says and does, with the obvious exception of Fox. It’s quite surprising to hear media commentators calling out Aurangzeb’s lies and cognitive lapses.
Interesting array of "celebrities" spruiking for Aurangzeb at his Madison Square Garden festival of anger and racist threats: Hulk Hogan, Elon Musk, Tony Hinchcliff, Tucker Carlson and David Rann. Sheff G and Sleepy Hallow must have had other engagements.
Hulk Hogan trying to rip a cotton t-shirt was way funnier than the racist "jokes" that Hinchcliff spewed. Surely he understands that millions of Puerto Ricans and Latinos are enrolled to vote or does that not matter when pandering to the MAGA rump?
For a minute I thought it was Johnny Weismuller, but he’s long gone, and was a movie Tarzan rather than a TV version.
It is a bit scary when pop culture personalities drop off the perch at around the same age or younger than oneself … Ron Ely doesn’t fall into that category 🙏
I tend to agree Paul; and how could a person of good faith support someone who they believe is unfit for office?
I guess he’s a bit like JD Vance in that the latter went from vehement opposition to running mate in the blink of an eye.
I think that expediency and an eye for the main chance is more acceptable in US politics.
One of McConnell’s statements that did ring true was where he said that Aurangzeb supporters tended to be less successful and believe that they’ve been cheated. That certainly seems to be the case with at least 90% of the MAGA supporters that I have seen interviewed … unless the “fake news” media only puts to air those that are as dumb as dog sh1t 🤔
Can we please keep on topic? Dan’s statue will have no bearing on the US elections!
Mitch McConnell’s soon to be released biography doesn’t hold back on his thoughts on the former POTUS, describing him as a “despicable human being,” “stupid” and “ill-tempered." Among many other damning criticisms, McConnell said that the 6 January insurrection was “further evidence of Donald Trump’s complete unfitness for office."
Other comments include:
“I think Trump was the biggest factor in changing the Republican Party from what Ronald Reagan viewed and he wouldn’t recognize today.”
“Trump is appealing to people who haven’t been as successful as other people and providing an excuse for that, that these more successful people have somehow been cheated, and you don’t deserve to think of yourself as less successful because things haven’t been fair.”
“Unfortunately, about half the Republicans in the country believe whatever he says.”
McConnell is the GOP Senate minority leader and about as far from a flakey left winger as you could get.
The Us surely couldn't be that stupid to re elect them. Biden was a walking corspe would made a absolute fool of himself until they realised they had no hope winning with him in charge so they booted him and was faced with having to run with their VC Kamala who is not fit to run a KFC store let alone a country. like them or not fact is during their ruin rent has increased by 30% food by 50% all while taxes increased by 28%.
but then again in our own backyard a youth mental health organisation elects none other then Mr Dan Andrews as the chair!!!!
i mean even all hard nosed labor voters would have thought that was joke.
I’d love to know the thought processes that led you to that position. The USA was a basket case under the previous administration so it was a challenge for Biden/Harris to turn things around. By all measures and independent assessments, they’ve successfully done that, as well as restoring the USA’s international standing.
I’m not sure why you bring up Labor voters. The US major parties are nothing like our parties. The Republicans ended slavery and segregation. The Democrats were pro-slavery and were linked to the KKK. It’s really just a matter of not wanting a 78 year old self-serving, convicted felon and rapist with significant cognitive decline in charge of a nuclear arsenal.
I’m not sure what Andrews has to do with US politics either but, if Patrick McGorry is happy with his appointment, I’m not going to argue.
Like many other Senators who have gone 'independent' after getting elected on a mainstream party ticket - they actually think people voted for them, as opposed to the vast majority of voters who simply follow the how to vote cards, especially for the ridiculously long-winded senate ballot paper.
Personally, I think if a Senator decides they do not wish to belong to the party on whose ticket they got elected, they should resign and allow the party in question to nominate a replacement.
There have been a few good independent Senators (think Brian Harradine, Nick Xenophon), but they were elected under their own banner.
I bet the Greens regret the day they put Lidia onto their ticket......
But that would require principles and a desire to do the right thing 🙄
Of course, our constitution is silent on political parties and we have to rely on conventions.
Does Lidia Thorpe not realise that when she makes a goose of herself that folks just see a goose ...and whatever message she is trying to convey is completely lost.
I suspect that she doesn't realise that she is making a goose of herself. In fact, I'm sure that she is convinced that her performance today will have won her new supporters.
As a committed republican, it concerns me that her strident, undignified and ineffective protest will damage our cause. It's a worry when our elected representatives don't seem to have the brains they were born with.
